PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE
In ‘basic English grammar, past continuous tense is a tense that is used to show the information of the time or action ongoing before now. It is used to describe events or states in which, we show express by referring the time that events or states was happening earlier or before some time.

Past continuous tense example in easy sentences:
In ‘English lessons for beginners, are made very simple way to them understanding. The given below examples describe that how the verbs are used in the past continuous tense.
I was playing football.
I was writing a letter.
Past continuous tense clarification:
Past continuous tense shows the ongoing time in sometime before. Read carefully given above sentences “I was playing football. & I was writing a letter” by reading these sentences, we know that ‘I’ is a subject, “playing and writing” are (participle) ing forms of the main verbs and “football and letter” are objects.
The regular verbs “writing and playing” has been changed from simple form “write and play” into past continuous tense. By doing practice exercises constantly you will understand more, step by step.

Past Tense Verb Examples, Past continuous tense explains that there was happening act in the past. In these above sentences, “I” is used as ‘subject’ which is ‘plural noun’, for which the ing form of the main verb is used to define Past continuous tense.
